This artifact is a research paper I wrote for a Military History course that examined the role of women in the U.S. military during World War II, focusing on the Women’s Army Corps, the Navy’s Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service, and military nurses. The purpose of the assignment was to examine how women’s service challenged traditional gender roles and reflected the cultural values of that time. Through this project, I gained a better understanding of how culture, gender norms, and structural barriers affect equity and access within institutions, which are important concepts in public health. Learning about women lived experiences strengthened my cultural competency and highlighted the value of listening to personal and historical narratives. These insights are directly relevant to public health and healthcare settings, where understanding identity, bias, and social context supports more equitable and patient-centered care. This artifact supports my eDossier by showing my growth in cultural awareness, critical thinking, and public health perspective.

This artifact is a cultural presentation I created for a Spanish course that focused on understanding regional differences within Spain. The goal of the assignment was to explore the culture and history of Madrid and Andalucía and present this information clearly in Spanish. Working on this project helped me realize that culture is not the same throughout one country and that factors such as history, traditions, and environment influence how people communicate and access information. Comparing these two regions helped me better understand the importance of health literacy and culturally competent communication, especially when working with diverse populations. This experience strengthened my ability to share information clearly, respectful, and mindful of cultural context. These skills are especially important in public health and healthcare settings, where cultural competence can build trust and improve health outcomes. This artifact fits into my eDossier by showing my growth in cultural awareness, communication skills, and global health perspective.
